Bountiful Brazoria County

Even though Brazoria County is experiencing a boom in its population, large areas of the county are still primarily rural and dependent on the agricultural industry. Bountiful Brazoria County is a snapshot of the agricultural history of Brazoria County from the late nineteenth through the twentieth centuries. Highlights of the exhibit include the agricultural industry of modern Brazoria County as well as a perspective of farming as it once was, including implements and historic photographs.

In other exhibits throughout the Museum, earlier agricultural history is addressed. For further information on the County’s agricultural history or to view other like photographic images, please visit the research library located on the second floor. The exhibit will remain open until June 24, 2002.

In connection with the exhibit, a lecture entitled Citrus Varieties for the Gulf Coast is scheduled for June 15th at 10:00 a.m. and will feature John Panzarella of Freeport. Mr. Panzarella will relate his personal experiences of growing citrus in Brazoria County. The exhibit and lecture are free-of-charge and the public is cordially invited to attend.
