"Nicknames"
|
Most of the inmates had nicknames that were
in every day use. These nicknames were given to them by the other inmates
because of some physical characteristics or personal trait. Some of the
ones that I remember were Hardhead, Blackman, Railhead, Cub Bear, Buttcut,
Hogmouth, Eatemup, Tangle Eye, Black Cat, Fire Eater, Onearm, Nub, Spraddles… Satchel and Black Cat were my buddies. We would play catch with a baseball on Sundays. Satchel claimed to have been a member of Kansas City Monarchs of the old Negro league. M. D. Seay: Growing Up on the Big Ramsey Unpublished manuscript, 1983 M. D. Seay lived on the Ramsey Prison Farm from 1925 to 1935, where his father, Ed Seay, was the Assistant Manager of Number 4 Camp.
